Feed Sterilizing Cylinders


CBC's Autoclave Sterilizing Cylinders with a feed capacity of 110 pounds for sterilizing animal feed used in germ-free, gnotobiotic animal research.

The CBC Stainless Steel Feed Sterilizing Cylinder provides both capacity and performance. The 18" cylinder features six full length trays. Tray depth is two inches with nearly an inch of space between trays. Limiting the tray depth to two inches insures the complete sterilization of feed with minimal time and temperature. This helps preserve the nutritional value of the feed.

Autoclave Feed Standard Cylinder Features:


  • 3 layers of DW4 filter media
  • Stainless steel clamp
  • Sterilizing cylinder is constructed out of stainless steel
  • Glass bead finish
  • Large vent openings to increase steam/heat penetration rate
  • Four carrying handles
  • Preserves nutritional value of feed
  • NOTE: Feed tray racks are not in the way of the supply tray so cylinder can also be used as a regular supply cylinder.

Standard Sizes:


  • 12" dia. x 24" long (4 feed trays)
  • 18" dia. x 30" long (6 feed trays)
  • Custom sizes available on request. CBC will custom size your sterilizing cylinder to better fit your autoclave and meet your laboratory requirements. Sometimes it's doing something simple like reducing the height of the cylinder legs so the sterilizing cylinder can better fit your autoclave shelves. Or, if we just reduce the diameter by a couple of inches, you can then fit two cylinders into your autoclave side-by-side.
